Frequently Asked Questions

Why do sales numbers differ between Shopify’s reporting and that of Incremental?

This can mostly be attributed to differences in how sales are defined on the two platforms. Net sales within Shopify’s reporting UI is defined as Gross Sales - Discounts - Returns. This differs from Shopify's Total Sales figure, which equates to Gross Sales - Discounts - Returns + Taxes + Shipping (see Shopify Help Center). Within the Incremental app, revenue metrics exclude adjustments for returns.

In addition to this, there are reporting discrepancies that can be attributed to differences in reporting time zones. Shopify data within the Incremental app will always reflect performance data according to UTC time standards. However, Shopify’s reporting UI is configured to reflect the store time zone, which can be set in the Shopify store’s settings.
